Well most of the photos are up atleast...
Thanks to
MortaleRedWolf the photos are now up.
There was issues scanning them though and I had to take them into Photoshop to reduce the contrast vastly.
There was supposed to be included an artist statement, but I didn't want to have it included with every entry. Alot of the statement felt forced to; since it was made for the classroom format. So, here's a small excerpt that helped create the theme.
My primary influence for this subject came during a training exercise with the university's ROTC program. I found myself alone on a hilltop; a long abandoned bunker in the foreground, a valley in the middle-ground, and a vast strain of ridges in the distant. The view was breath taking, but my curiosity was drawn to the concrete structure in front of me. The structure stuck in time and the world moving at double pace; nature slowly reclaiming what was once hers. The photographs I took are relative to that scene I saw months ago. A scene neglected but because of nature's intervention has become beautiful.
E3 2011I didn't watch all of the conferences, but I'll just talk about the ones I watched.
1. MicrosoftI was hoping for a great turnout from Microsoft. It turned out to be a joke. Their major talking points focused way to much on their Kinect product.
The tech demos for it were also a joke since they had piss poor actors show how fun their games are to play. It made me feel embarrassed to even be watching the conference.
The Disney demos were even worse as their kid actors seemed to have been injected with liquid cocaine to make them inhumanly hyperactive about a mediocre title.
Double Fine's demo for their Sesame kinect game actually had me sold on their product as a kid game. The little kid they had seemed genuinely excited to try it out; he almost jumped the gun and the adult actor next to him had to tell him 'not yet.' Once in the demo the kid had a look of happiness that made the Disney actors look like complete tools.
Fable: The journey look unbelievably boring (ie On rails) in it's announcement trailer.
Even the announcement of Halo 4 couldn't really save Microsoft from a lackluster conference and for that I give them a D- score. They didn't fail, but the only barely came by with a passing grade with the few titles that people were eager to learn about.
2. NintendoI laughed when my sister
MortaleRedWolf scoffed at the idea of the Wii U and literally a second later accept it with the reveal that it's controller screen can be used as a drawing tablet.
I was already sold on it's idea that it's secondary monitor can be used as the primary source to play games on. My main issue with Nintendo is that everyone of their generation of consoles since the GameCube have concluded in mounds and mounds of shovel-ware products and piss-poor peripheral support. The Skyward Sword demo they had for the Wii U also was impressive and also gave hints of their fabled 'high def graphics.'
The announcement of Lego City also got me curious in the 3DS. The one in-game screenshot they showed hinted at it being an open world game. I would love this to be a current-gen version of Lego Island 1. Nintendo's Super Mario for the 3DS also has my curiosity peaked. One previewer remarked at this is the game he wanted when Super Mario 64 was released.
Nintendo's strong support for their new systems gives them an B+ from me.
3. SonyI really wished I could've seen their conference. I did hear that they started by addressing the PSN hacking incident at the start without jokes of any sort. I find that pretty classy that they didn't jump around that issue.
I can't realy give them a grade since I completely missed their conference, but I do plan on watching an youtube uploaded version.
4. DICEBIAS WARNINGI'll start off by saying that I've been a die-hard Battlefield fan since I impulsively picked up the first title when my parents got a XP computer in 2002.
And I've loved most of the games in the series. The console'd spin-off title Bad Company 2 has claimed many hours, but I've always dreamt of the day of Battlefield 2's true sequel.
And boy is this a true sequel.
A+!!!! Score voided due to bias faggotry.
